As no two dogs are alike, we use the most progressive training methods based in canine behavioral theory and what works for you and your dog. By definition dog training: is the process of teaching a dog (Canis lupus familiaris) to perform certain actions in response to certain commands which are issued by you the owner/handler. You and the dog are trained to understand each of the actions associated with each command. Dog Training is a general term which does not, by itself, describe what or how the dog is taught. As pack animals, wild dogs have natural instincts that favor cooperation with their fellow dogs. Many domestic dogs, either through instinct or breeding, can correctly interpret or respond to signals both verbal and non-verbal (hand signals) given by a human handler, including body language.

The sooner you start the training process the better. When dogs raise other dogs they do just fine, female dogs (bitches) begin to teach self control to the pups and appropriate behavior appropriate to the age of the pup, starting around 4-5 weeks of age. As they get older more polite behavior and self control are expected of the pup. What is expect of us as new owners of pups is to continue this learning process, and recognize there will be gaffs and blunders along the way just as with a child. People rarely see their dogs as social animals, but they are. Examples of self control are not going out of control when the dog/pup sees a cat, another dog, a person, a bike, etc.  If these things are not controlled a behavior problem occurs and builds.
